Nehemiah Space

Nehemiah Space began with a training programme that has seen 20 regeneration professionals trained up as ‘community anchors’ within their neighbourhoods, helping to bridge the divides between communities and organisations and helping to bring about real, substantial and lasting change.  The training programme continues but now Nehemiah Space is also a growing movement of individuals committed to putting community first, who are journeying together as they seek to enable transformation in some of the UK’s most hard-pressed neighbourhoods.

Stephen Belling

Stephen has over 20 years experience advising Community Groups, Voluntary Sector Organisations, Local Authorities, Registered Social Landlords and private sector organisations on how best they can help to transform the communities amongst whom they live and work.  He is a solicitor with a difference, having spent 2 years within a large estate as Programme Director of a Government Funded initiative with a budget of almost £50million.  
 

Stephen is inspired by a Christian message of hope and challenged by the same message to put aside any aspirations to ‘go it alone’, longing to journey with likeminded souls, whatever their own view of God and religion, to share frustrations and joys along the road to help right the many wrongs that poverty creates.
